Animals like to Houdini fences concluding I checked. Either keep breeding them so you take extras, or build their pens out of solid blocks.

Chickens are notorious for being escape artists. Fortunately, I have enough of them in the pen around my firm that any that do escape are dealt with. Ane shot from my Ability IV, Flame I enchanted bow and any escapees go instant cooked craven.
I may even have too many. I already take more eggs than I could e'er need, not to mention iii total stacks + of cooked chicken and about the same amount of feathers.

Information technology seems that, when a chunk generates, mobs spawn offset, and so blocks, and entities like torches, fences, and beds seem to spawn last. I don't actually know annihilation about the programming. That's just what I observe on my fairly slow server.
As animals too seem to hug fences, I find that many wander out of the fenced in area in the 2d or two before the fences generate.
I've also witnessed clusters of animals push each other over or through fences.
I just keep a large amount of livestock around and deal with the loss. They never wander far, so the population of animals in the surface area only goes up, they're not actually despawning. Double fences seem to assist a lot. Using blocks instead of fences, while not pretty, seems similar the best pick.

Aye, I've solved this problem in SMP by putting my animals in "pits" basically. I dig down two blocks deep and then edge the top of the pit with a fence. It really looks quite nice. I take a gate with a fence to me to get into and out of the pit. Oasis't had any escapes yet.

Sounds like the Chupacabra to me.
In all seriousness though, if your animals are enclosed by fences, there seems to be a glitch where they tin can pop out of the argue after a certain corporeality of time. Chickens exercise it often but the other animals have their time doing it. Search the area around your pens and you lot'll probably find your animals.

I dont take a trouble with my animals disappearing but my chickens exercise escape from my fenced in area though. I have recently changed the fences from ane block high to 2. They yet seem to get out merely information technology dosent affair due to the fact that I have so many! :tongue.gif:

i have an extreme problem with thru the wall glitching and wall climbing. My pens for cows, pigs, and sheep are all 2 blocks thick now of cobble and 5 blocks in height. I still get the occasional animal glitching out thru the walls.
my chicken coop is similar, 2 blocks thick and 5 high consummate with a glass ceiling and I lose ALL my chickens constantly.
